PROJECT OVERVIEW
1871 überließ Gabriel de Rumine (1841-1871), ein Aristokrat russischer Herkunft mit einer Lausanner Mutter, der Stadt Lausanne 1'500'000 Franken für den Bau eines Gebäudes zur öffentlichen Nutzung. Die Stadt beschloss den Bau einer neuen Universität am Fuße des Stadthügels und organisierte 1889 einen Architekturwettbewerb, den Gaspard André von Lyon gewann.
